Nokia has started to take preorders of the N8 smartphone since this morning and is aiming to deliver the phone by the end of the month for a mere £429 for the SIM Free version, a price that keeps out delivery but carries two-year standard warranty.
It has been advertized as the "ultimate social smartphone" by the company having features like HD video recording and editing capabilities, a 12-megapixel camera, HDMI connectivity and a number of apps. It comes with a 1Ghz Qualcomm ARM-based processor, two Xenon flash, a 3.5-inch LCD touchscreen (640x360 pixels), free voice-guide navigation, three home screens, Bluetooth 3.0, a front-facing VGA camera, Dolby Digital Plus, up to 50 hours worth of music playback and will be accessible in up to five colors.
As expected, the N8 comes with an accelerometer, a compass, a proximity sensor plus an ambient light detector and 16GB onboard; surprisingly, Nokia chose a 1200mAh Li-Ion battery to power the phone, a far cry from the 1800mAh we found on some smartphones.
